Tres Cantos recorded 598 criminal offences between January and June 2026, 32 fewer than in the same period of 2025. Burglaries and thefts also decreased, while cyber scams rose by 19.8%.
Conventional crime in Tres Cantos fell by 5.1% during the first half of 2026, according to the Crime Balance from the Ministry of the Interior, as reported by magazineslv.com. From January to June, 598 offences were recorded, compared to 630 in the same period of 2025, which means 32 fewer crimes.
Burglaries decreased from 27 to 23 cases, a 14.8% decrease. Thefts dropped from 203 to 189, a 6.9% decrease. Break-ins at establishments and other facilities fell from 34 to 31, an 8.8% decrease.
The most significant drop was in vehicle thefts: from five cases in the first half of 2025 to one in 2026, an 80% decrease. Drug trafficking offences also reduced, from four to three, a 25% decrease.
In the first six months of the year, no intentional homicides or murders, completed or attempted, nor any sexual assaults with penetration were recorded.
The Tres Cantos City Council attributes these figures to prevention efforts, police presence, and coordination between the Local Police and the Civil Guard.
Cybercrime is one of the main challenges, and we will strengthen prevention and information aimed at residents,” officials from the City Council stated.
Cybercrime rose by 7.6%, with 368 offences compared to 342 in the first half of 2025. Cyber scams increased from 288 to 345 cases, a 19.8% rise.
In the first quarter, Tres Cantos ranked as the third municipality in the Community of Madrid with the lowest rate of conventional crime among towns with over 50,000 inhabitants, with 5.51 offences per 1,000 inhabitants.
