EMT Madrid has incorporated 59 new drivers into service following the conclusion of the training course, held today at the municipal company's headquarters. According to merca2.es, the event was presided over by the mayor, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, alongside the delegate for Urban Planning, Environment and Mobility, Borja Carabante.
The new professionals have completed four weeks of training, totalling 140 hours of instruction. The programme combined theoretical lessons on the bus network, operational procedures, and safety regulations, with practical driving sessions without passengers and in real traffic conditions.
Before joining, all candidates passed a prior medical examination, an essential requirement to perform their duties. During the event, Almeida congratulated the drivers for having overcome:
a challenging selection process
The mayor also told them:
tomorrow begins the best journey of your lives
With this intake, EMT Madrid has added 386 drivers so far in 2026, five of whom came from internal mobility processes. The company operates more than 2,140 buses and recorded over 512 million passengers in 2025.
