The Leganés full-back, without a team since June 30, has passed the medical with the blue club. The deal needs to fit within LaLiga's economic limits to be made official.
Dani Carvajal is close to continuing his career in the Community of Madrid. The Leganés full-back, 34 years old, is negotiating his incorporation to Getafe as a free agent this Tuesday, October 6, 2026, after his contract with Real Madrid ended on June 30, according to local media elpespunte.es.
The operation has progressed in recent hours. Getafe's president, Ángel Torres, has confirmed that Carvajal has already passed the medical and that the deal needs to fit within LaLiga's economic limits. As of now, the signing is not officially closed.
The fitting of the operation with LaLiga is still pending
The defender can join outside the regular transfer market because he is without a team. Getafe has free slots and has been studying the possibility of strengthening their squad with players without contracts.
Real Madrid announced on May 18, 2026 that both parties had agreed to end their relationship at the conclusion of the season. Carvajal joined the Madrid youth academy in 2002 and accumulated 13 seasons in the first team, with 450 official matches, 14 goals, and 27 titles, including six Champions Leagues, four La Ligas, and two Copa del Rey titles.
Getafe's coach, José Bordalás, has kept in touch with Carvajal to explain the sporting project and the role he could play. The player has been training on his own since the summer to stay prepared while exploring various options, following the anterior cruciate ligament tear he suffered in October 2024.
If the signing is completed and registered, Carvajal could face Real Madrid as a Getafe player when both teams meet in competition. The player remains in the Community of Madrid, where he already resided.
Getafe has not yet communicated a date for the presentation. The operation depends on resolving the procedures with LaLiga for the full-back to be registered.
