The Ministry of Transport has been studying the railway connection between Móstoles and Navalcarnero since June 2026, with a 24-month deadline. Vox demands that this analysis also considers extending the line to Sotillo de la Adrada and linking it to the Madrid commuter network.
The Ministry of Transport formalised in June 2026 the contract for the new feasibility study for the railway connection between Móstoles and Navalcarnero, with an execution period of 24 months. While this analysis progresses, Vox has registered an initiative for the document to also consider the extension of the line to Sotillo de la Adrada and its integration into the commuter networks of the Community of Madrid, as reported by avilared.com.
The Vox representative from Ávila in the Cortes of Castilla y León has defended the proposal with a procedural argument: they are not asking for "construction to start tomorrow" but for "something much simpler and more responsible: to study it, to analyse routes, demand, costs and feasibility, taking advantage of the study already underway or, if that is not possible, through a complementary one." The party argues that the measure would benefit the Tiétar and Alberche valleys, areas with high labour, social and economic dependence on the capital.
The extension has already been requested by the PP senator and mayor of Sotillo de la Adrada, Juan Pablo Martín. The area of influence of the route includes municipalities such as Sotillo de la Adrada, La Adrada, Piedralaves, Casillas, Cebreros, or El Tiemblo, with a population that regularly commutes to Madrid for work, education, economic or social reasons, in addition to a significant flow of tourism and second homes.
The parliamentary journey of the proposal will begin in committee in the Cortes of Castilla y León, where it will be debated to urge the Spanish Government to include the extension in the official studies. Afterwards, Vox will take the same initiative to the Congress of Deputies.
The party has also registered another initiative to demand the paving and conditioning of the SG-500 road to El Espinar, a route frequently used by residents of Ávila seeking to avoid tolls and which is in a "quite deficient" condition in the section bordering the province of Segovia.
Everything is already very advanced and I believe that the conditioning of that part of the road will be soon," explained Palomo, attributing the delay to the need for an environmental study that required modifications to the route.
The feasibility study between Móstoles and Navalcarnero will continue processing over the next two years, so any decision regarding the extension towards the southwest of the province of Ávila will depend on the conclusions of that analysis or, if applicable, the complementary study requested by Vox.
