The VOX Municipal Group in Majadahonda has submitted a motion to reduce the tax burden on residents. It proposes to repeal the waste tax and lower municipal tax rates.

The VOX Municipal Group in Majadahonda has submitted a motion proposing to repeal the waste tax, reduce municipal tax rates to the minimum allowed by law, and apply the maximum legally possible discounts. This is reported by noroestemadrid.com, which details that the initiative is signed by councillor Federico Fernández de la Puente Isusi.

The motion is a proposal from the municipal group and not a modification of the already approved tax ordinances. Its aim is to open the debate on local taxes and fees and to study what measures could further relieve taxpayers' finances.

In addition to the waste tax, VOX calls for a review of municipal fees and public prices to assess whether they are necessary, proportionate, and in line with the actual cost of services. Fernández de la Puente argues that the measure would allow residents to retain a larger portion of their income and facilitate the activities of businesses and self-employed individuals.

The proposal also requests that discounts benefit families with children, especially large families, young people, those facing economic difficulties, primary residences, businesses, and the self-employed. It also calls for the study of aid linked to investments in energy efficiency, accessibility, and rehabilitation.

The group's statement does not specify the percentage reductions for each tax nor calculate the overall economic impact. To offset the loss of revenue, VOX proposes to review municipal spending while maintaining the provision of public services. The group notes that the City Council's budget has increased from 74 million euros in 2023 to 97 million in 2026.

The implementation of these measures would depend on the agreements adopted by the plenary and their alignment with regulations and municipal accounts.
