Getafe City Council limits Coliseum parking to residents and strengthens noise controls in Getafe Norte and Los Molinos during Shakira's concerts at Iberdrola Music, for four consecutive weekends.
The Getafe City Council has activated new traffic restrictions and noise controls in the neighbourhoods of Getafe Norte and Los Molinos due to the concerts that Shakira will perform from Friday to Sunday over the next four weeks at the Iberdrola Music venue, according to Noticias para Municipios. This measure comes after the recent Coca-Cola Music Experience caused congestion in the area.
The Council will prevent vehicles that are not residents from accessing the Coliseum parking. Additionally, it will monitor improper parking of motorcycles and will try to prevent the formation of VTC and taxi queues that could lead to a mass exit of attendees towards the city.
The municipal technical services will repeat the noise emission control campaigns that were implemented during the Coca-Cola Music Experience. On that occasion, the measurements exceeded healthy limits in nearby homes.
Getafe calls on the Madrid City Council, which grants the venue licenses, and the Community of Madrid for definitive access solutions
The municipal government is requesting a pedestrian walkway or an underground passage over the M-45, or a metro stop near Avenida Real de Pinto. It also asks the State Security Forces to demand safe access from Madrid and the Community and criticizes private promoters for not bearing the costs of mobility and noise generated by their events.
The Iberdrola Music venue, located in the Madrid district of Villaverde near the border with Getafe, has faced criticism from the Getafe City Council since previous editions of festivals like Mad Cool or Coca-Cola Music Experience due to the mobility and noise problems it creates in neighbouring areas.
The concerts will take place from Friday to Sunday over the next four weeks. Residents of Getafe Norte and Los Molinos will notice traffic cuts and noise controls in their streets during those weekends.
