The President of the Community of Madrid congratulates Shakira on social media for her tour in the capital and estimates the economic impact at €400 million. The City Council of Madrid had made a similar assessment days earlier.
According to 20minutos, the President of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, has congratulated Shakira on her Instagram profile for the Colombian artist's visit to the capital with her tour Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour. The post includes two photographs, one with the singer and another from a moment during the concert.
In the text accompanying the images, Ayuso states that the residency has gathered over 700,000 spectators and has left an impact of €400 million. According to the president, this is the highest-grossing Hispanic tour of all time.
Shakira makes history in Madrid with over 700,000 spectators from around the world, showcasing Spain.
The message comes days after the City Council of Madrid released its assessment of the concerts at the Iberdrola Music venue in the Villaverde district. The council estimates 800,000 visitors attended the 13 concerts by the singer.
The delegate for Urbanism, Environment and Mobility, Borja Carabante, defended that the mobility and security measures functioned correctly and that there were hardly any complaints from residents. According to his figures, more than half of the attendees came from outside Madrid, which, in his view, had an effect on economic activity, investment and employment.
Few venues in Europe have that capacity, accessibility, and, above all, minimal disturbances to the neighbours.
The venue, known for decades as the Villaverde Polygon, relocated to Villaverde three years ago when it hosted the Mad Cool of 2023.
