The 18th edition of the Ibercaja Madrid runs for Madrid race takes place this Sunday with 10,000 runners and a 10-kilometre route between the Plaza de San Juan de la Cruz and the Paseo de Camoens. There will be traffic cuts in Centro, Chamberí, and Moncloa, along with changes to 38 EMT bus lines.
This Sunday, the capital hosts the 18th edition of the Ibercaja Madrid runs for Madrid race, which will bring together 10,000 runners on a 10-kilometre route between the Plaza de San Juan de la Cruz and the Paseo de Camoens in the Parque del Oeste. The event, as reported by La Razón, will necessitate traffic cuts in the districts of Centro, Chamberí, and Moncloa, as well as modifications to 38 EMT bus lines.
The scheduled time for the race is from 9:00 to 11:00. Traffic cuts will begin at 8:20 on the roads of the route and surrounding streets. In the section of Paseo de la Castellana between Plaza de San Juan de la Cruz and Raimundo Fernández Villaverde, the cuts will start at 4:00 and will remain in place until 11:00.
The restrictions will affect the Plaza del Doctor Marañón, Paseo de la Castellana, Plaza de Emilio Castelar, Plaza de Colón, Génova, Plaza de Alonso Martínez, Sagasta, the Glorieta de Bilbao, Carranza, the Glorieta de Ruiz Jiménez, San Bernardo, Gran Vía, Montera, Puerta del Sol, Mayor, Bailén, San Quintín, Plaza de la Ópera, Arenal, Preciados, Plaza de Callao, Plaza de España, Princesa, Marqués de Urquijo, Francisco and Jacinto Alcántara, and the Paseo de Camoens and Valero.
The affected EMT bus lines are 001, 1, 002, 2, 3, 5, 7, 12, 14, 16, 21, 25, 27, 37, 39, 40, 44, 45, 46, 53, 61, 62, 74, 75, 133, 138, 146, 147, 148, 149, 150, C1, C2, C03, M3, N22, and N24.
The sporting event combines sport, literature, and heritage and serves as a prelude to the commemorative events for the centenary of the Generation of '27. To ensure the mobility and safety of attendees and other public road users, a special deployment of Municipal Police and Mobility Agents will be in place.
