The fire started around 19:30 at number 19 Francisco Requena street and forced the evacuation of several homes. Five people were treated for smoke inhalation and two for anxiety attacks.
A fire declared this Saturday in a ground floor flat at 19 Francisco Requena street, in the Madrid district of Ciudad Lineal, resulted in seven lightly injured, according to Emergencias Madrid. The fire, which started around 19:30, forced the evacuation of several homes and the rescue of several residents from the upper floors.
The flames spread through the façade and affected the entire flat, while the stairwell was filled with smoke, according to the emergency services. Seven fire crews from Madrid were dispatched to the scene, carrying out several rescues of residents from the upper floors of the building.
The Samur-Civil Protection service treated five people for mild smoke inhalation and two others for anxiety attacks. One of the individuals treated was taken to Hospital de La Princesa.
The Municipal Police of Madrid assisted in the extinguishing and rescue efforts, keeping the street closed to facilitate the work of the emergency teams.
