CGT and ÚTIL march from Colón square to the Ministry of Industry to demand a real negotiation that recovers the CPI. UGT does not attend and maintains a neutral position.
Workers from Airbus gathered this Monday in Madrid to express their rejection of the pre-agreement reached with the company and to demand a "real" negotiation that specifies the recovery of purchasing power linked to the actual CPI. The march, called by CGT and supported by ÚTIL, started from Colón square towards the Ministry of Industry, according to candas365.es.
Union representatives warned that the agreement leaves "many things up in the air" and questioned why it did not involve the participation of all organizations or a direct negotiation with the strike committee.
It falls short," said Juan Pedro Torres, the representative of CGT, who warned that it leaves "many things up in the air", especially regarding the recovery of the actual CPI and the workload for Cádiz.
Torres also noted as a positive aspect that "in the end we have managed to set the CPI after more than two agreements without the major organizations signing it", although he clarified that it will be an achievement "if they don't ruin it in a subsequent text".
The representative of ÚTIL, Marc Vidal, criticized that the pre-agreement does not address several demands, including those related to workers of the Bromo Project and salary conditions. Vidal rejected the so-called "April effect", which would mean that remuneration would start to be calculated from April instead of January and, in his opinion, "a salary loss for all workers".
UGT did not participate in the march. Sources from the union conveyed that it maintains a "neutral" position regarding the mobilization and explained that the call was made on September 4, before knowing the proposal from the Ministry of Industry and before the strike committee agreed to pause the mobilization on September 8.
The Airbus strike committee decided to pause the indefinite strike that began on August 25 from September 9, despite the fact that the workforce had voted narrowly in favour of maintaining it. Across all centres, 51.23% of the workers who voted in the assembly opted to continue the strikes compared to 48.7% who chose to pause them, a difference of 67 votes.
The pre-agreement between Airbus and several unions was reached on September 4 with the mediation of the Ministry of Industry and Tourism. The proposal includes a recovery of purchasing power of 7.95% until 2029 and the maintenance of the current teleworking agreement.
The text will be submitted this September to a binding referendum among Airbus staff in Spain.
