The Madrid Planetarium is celebrating its 40th anniversary with the exhibition '40 Years Unveiling the Cosmos', which reviews the evolution of astronomy and space exploration since 1986. The exhibition, which is free to access, can be visited in the outdoor hall of the centre.

The delegate for Culture, Tourism and Sport, Marta Rivera de la Cruz, attended the inauguration and highlighted the centre's trajectory in scientific dissemination, as reported by noticias.madrid. The Planetarium was inaugurated on September 29, 1986 by the kings of Spain and has since welcomed over seven million visitors.

The exhibition focuses on the advances of major telescopes and space probes, which have allowed for a more precise description of stars, planets, galaxies, and other cosmic phenomena. The organisation and curation has been led by Telmo Fernández Castro, César González Arranz, J. Eloy Cruz Jiménez, and Fernando Regidor Salazar, with the collaboration of Airbus in production.

In addition to exhibitions, the Planetarium programmes immersive films, courses, and lecture series. Its YouTube channel has accumulated over two million views. The centre is under the General Directorate of Libraries, Archives, and Museums.

Entry is free, and visiting hours during the winter season are from Tuesday to Friday in morning and afternoon sessions, as well as on weekends and holidays at similar times.
