The mayor of Colmenar Viejo, Carlos Blázquez, has sent a letter to the director of Cercanías Madrid, Sonia Ferrero, to convey the residents' dissatisfaction with the delays, incidents, and cancellations affecting the C-4 line. The information, reported by colmenarviejo.com, details that the letter also denounces cases where trains heading to Colmenar Viejo end their journey in Tres Cantos, forcing passengers to complete their journey by other means.
The mayor demands that Renfe ensure compliance with schedules and routes to Colmenar Viejo, especially during peak hours, and requests prompt information when any incident occurs. In parallel, he asks the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility to allocate resources and investments to improve the reliability of the service.
Every morning, thousands of residents depend on Cercanías to get to work, a medical appointment, or an exam at the University,” Blázquez states in the letter.
The mayor reminds that the situation worsens during the expansion works of the M-607, an investment of nearly 40 million euros from the Community of Madrid that is affecting mobility in the area. In this context, he argues that Cercanías should function as a reliable alternative.
Blázquez previously held a meeting with Ferrero last May to address these issues, but, according to the letter, the failures continue to occur repeatedly. The Colmenar Viejo City Council is requesting a response and concrete measures to restore the reliability of the line.
