Two temporary speed restrictions remain active on the AVE line between Segovia and Madrid. One of them affects a stretch of 70 metres between Soto del Real and Colmenar Viejo.
According to El Norte de Castilla, the Adif monitor keeps two temporary speed restrictions active on the AVE line connecting Segovia with Madrid and Valladolid. The first requires trains to travel at no more than 30 kilometres per hour over 100 metres of access to the Campo Grande station. The second sets a maximum of 230 kilometres per hour over a stretch of 70 metres between Soto del Real and Colmenar Viejo, already in the Community of Madrid.
The historical comparison from the operator itself indicates that there have been more than ten such measures applied on this line since 2023. According to Adif, these restrictions are applied regularly:
as a precautionary measure in response to situational circumstances
One of the most notable was implemented in Garcillán, just hours after the Adamuz accident. Trains were required to travel at 60 kilometres per hour over an 18-kilometre stretch, whereas previously they generally exceeded 250. The measure was lifted the following day.
On 28 June, an electrical storm forced traffic restrictions in Garcillán for nearly two hours, causing delays of over 25 minutes per journey without any damage. Five days earlier, an incident on the infrastructure cancelled some services between Valladolid and Segovia. In May, a failure in the signalling systems between the provincial boundary and Soto del Real caused delays in the connection with Madrid, according to notices from Adif and Renfe.
To check real-time active restrictions on each stretch, the Adif monitor is the public reference source.
