The Palace of Liria, located at 20 Princesa Street in Madrid, will host the exhibition 'Cayetana: Grande de España' from 1 October 2026 to 31 January 2027, dedicated to the figure of Cayetana Fitz-James Stuart, the 18th Duchess of Alba. The exhibition features over 200 pieces including documents, photographs, personal items, and materials related to her life, as reported by que.es.
The tour is designed as a biographical narrative that begins in the duchess's childhood, when her family called her Tanuca, and extends to her maturity as one of the most publicly prominent women in Spain over the last century. Among the exhibited pieces are portraits set in the palace itself, images alongside Queen Victoria Eugenia, and mementoes from her honeymoon trip to the United States.
The exhibition includes a photograph of Cayetana with Yves Saint Laurent, then creative director of Dior, taken during a charity fashion show held at the Palace of Liria in 1959. The display also reviews her role as a defender of the historical heritage of the House of Alba and her relationship with the art and fashion of her time.
Few Spanish figures have transitioned from the private salon to magazine covers as naturally as Cayetana de Alba, and this autumn Madrid places her back in the spotlight.
The Palace of Liria, the official residence of the House of Alba, houses one of the most significant private collections in the world. Admission to the exhibition also grants free access to the building, allowing visitors to explore both the temporary exhibition and the rooms of the property.
The scheduled hours are as follows: Mondays from 10:00 to 14:00; from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10:00 to 14:00 and from 16:00 to 19:00. As for the admission fees, from Monday to Friday (excluding holidays), general admission costs 20 euros and reduced admission 13 euros; on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, the prices are 22 euros (general) and 15 euros (reduced).
