The 28th International Contemporary Music Festival of Madrid features 22 free activities in eight venues across the capital from September 22 to November 22. The Madrid Association of Composers organises the cycle, with dozens of world premieres.
The Madrid Association of Composers (AMCC) has presented the programme for COMA'26, the 28th International Contemporary Music Festival of Madrid, which will offer 22 free activities in eight venues across the capital from September 22 to November 22, as reported by madridactual.es. The cycle includes symphonic formations, choirs, ensembles, soloists, and chamber groups, featuring dozens of world premieres.
The Teatros del Canal hosts a significant portion of the programme. The Atlántida Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Manuel Tévar, opens the cycle on September 22 in the Sala Verde. On September 26, the Community of Madrid Choir, under the direction of Javier Carmena, performs in the Sala Roja Concha Velasco. On September 30, Spanish Brass, National Music Award 2020, presents a full programme of premieres in the Sala Negra.
Percussionists Joan Castelló and Eugenio Uñón perform on October 6 in the Sala Negra. On October 13, Sonor Ensemble with Anna Cabrera moves to the Sala Roja Concha Velasco, and on October 27, the Ascot Quartet concludes the festival's presence at the Teatros del Canal with a concert in the Sala Verde.
In addition to the Teatros del Canal, COMA'26 programmes activities at the National Auditorium of Music, the Museum of America, the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando, Casa de América, the Cultural Centre Casa de Vacas, the Complutense University of Madrid, and the Manuel de Falla Hall of the SGAE.
Among the performers are the Orquestra de Cambra Catalana conducted by Joan Pàmies, the Symphony Orchestra of the Complutense University of Madrid with José Sanchís at the helm, the Nuevo Ensemble de Segovia, pianist Laura Farré Rozada, cellist Alejandro Gómez Pareja, the Contrastes Trio, and the Arcadia Duo.
The festival, created in 1998, continues to promote contemporary music and the premiere of new works with specialised formations. All activities are free until capacity is reached and are sponsored by the Community of Madrid.
