The Government Council has approved a decree allowing professionals from the productive sector to teach in public, concerted, and private vocational training centres. Contracts will last for one school year.

According to vivirediciones.es, the Government Council of the Community of Madrid has approved a decree this week that allows the incorporation of company experts as teachers in vocational training centres. The measure affects public, concerted, and private centres, and adapts regional regulations to the new national organisation of vocational training.

The specialists will come from the productive sector or have a senior profile. They must demonstrate a prior work history, either self-employed or employed, related to the specialty or module they will teach. Selection will be made through a merit-based competition.

The experts will be able to teach in Grade D studies, which include basic, intermediate, and advanced cycles, and in Grade E studies, the intermediate and advanced specialisation courses. Their participation will be activated when specialised knowledge is required in a specific subject or when teaching positions cannot be filled through ordinary procedures.

The decree allows for teaching to be compatible with a reduced working hours in their company or organisation, or with a partial or flexible retirement. The contracts will have a maximum duration of one school year and may be renewed according to the needs of each centre.

The remuneration will be equivalent to that of the teaching officials who teach the same module or specialty. For Madrid vocational training students, the regulation means that technical specialties may have active or retired professionals when there is a shortage of teachers.
