Two of the four arrested were detained in Galapagar, another in central Madrid and the fourth in La Vila Joiosa. They will be brought before a judge in the coming hours.
A man arrested in La Vila Joiosa is one of the four detainees for the murder of Elia Cobián, an 80-year-old businesswoman found dead in her home in Galapagar in May. According to Información, the Civil Guard has conducted the operation that led to the arrests, including those of the alleged material authors of the crime.
The victim, owner of Almacenes Cobián in the plaza de Pontejos in Madrid, was discovered on May 6 inside her house showing signs of violence. She had been bound, gagged and beaten, which caused her death.
According to the Civil Guard on Tuesday, October 20, two of the suspects were arrested in Galapagar, another in central Madrid and the fourth in La Vila Joiosa. It has not been disclosed what role this last individual had in the events or whether he usually resided in Marina Baixa.
The investigation progressed on September 28, when agents requested public assistance to locate possible witnesses. Investigators re-examined the victim's property, located at number 12 on Mandril Street, and studied potential escape routes.
One hypothesis suggested that the perpetrators would have used a path parallel to the Guadarrama River to reach the urban area of Galapagar, avoiding the usual access. The Civil Guard asked for help from anyone who might have seen suspicious movements in the area.
Following the arrests, agents have conducted three home searches in Galapagar to continue gathering evidence. The proceedings are under secrecy, so no details have been provided regarding how the suspects were identified or the evidence obtained.
The four detainees will be brought before a judge in the coming hours.
