The Móstoles City Council is advancing in the processing of three major urban developments that will total nearly 13,500 homes. According to epe.es, the projects have been included in the Urban Development Accelerator of the Community of Madrid, which will expedite administrative procedures.
According to municipal sources, the actions will mobilize more than two million square meters of developable land and will allow for the development of new neighbourhoods during the next legislative term.
The largest project is the SUS R-1, with 9,538 homes, of which 3,371 will be protected. It will occupy about 1.3 million square meters and includes new road infrastructures, connections to public transport, and energy efficiency measures.
The SUS R-4, in the southern area of the municipality, initially plans for 2,503 homes, of which 1,158 will be for public protection. This number could increase by another 372 homes if certain plots reserved for local networks are used for this purpose.
The third development is the SUNC-4, on the grounds of the former Móstoles Industrial factory (Moinsa), which is mostly owned by El Corte Inglés. More than 1,000 homes are expected to be built there, in an action also included in the regional Urban Development Accelerator.
Municipal estimates raise the total of projects and actions to about 16,000 new homes in Móstoles, of which more than 60% will have some form of protection.
