The Government Delegation against Gender Violence has launched an investigation to clarify the death of a woman aged around 80 at her home in San Sebastián de los Reyes, where her husband was also found dead. The case is being handled by the Gender Violence Court, as confirmed by the Government delegate in Madrid, Francisco Martín.
The events occurred in the middle of last week. A caregiver for the couple discovered the man's body in the home, which showed signs consistent with a possible suicide, while the woman was found dying in the bedroom. The woman later died from her injuries, as reported by elconfidencial.com.
The investigation is open. It is currently being handled by the Gender Violence Court
This was clarified by Martín in statements to the media from Vallecas, where he toured the bulevar de Peña Gorbea alongside the National Police to learn about the results of the special security operation deployed in the area.
The Government delegate has called for “utilising all available resources” to combat gender violence “in any of its forms.” He also insisted that there are still around thirty municipalities in the Community of Madrid that have not joined the VioGén victim monitoring system despite meeting the requirements for it.

“Unfortunately, we cannot reach every situation, and that is why it is essential to call on society as a whole to do everything in our power to provide solutions and try to end this barbarity as soon as possible,” added Martín.
