Tres Cantos recorded 1,427 unemployed people at the end of September, which is 23 fewer than in August and an unemployment rate of 3.87%, the lowest among the main municipalities in northern Madrid, according to data from the City Council based on the Labour Market Statistics of the Community of Madrid, as reported by Diario Tres Cantos.
The active population of the municipality amounts to 36,831 people, so the unemployment rate remains below 4%. The monthly decrease was 1.59% compared to the 1,450 registered in August.
By age, the largest share of unemployment corresponds to those over 44 years old: 888 people, which is 62.23% of the total. The group aged 25 to 44 accounts for 458 unemployed (32.10%), while those under 25 represent 5.68%, with 81 people. This last percentage is below the youth unemployment rate of the Community of Madrid (7.34%) and the national average (7.95%).
The distribution by sex shows that 852 women are registered as unemployed, 59.71%, compared to 575 men, 40.29%. By sectors, Services accounts for 1,284 people, nearly 90% of the total; followed by Industry (55), Construction (37), and Agriculture (6).
The Councillor for Economic Development and Employment, Ana Isabel Pérez, has evaluated the data and stated that the municipal objective is to continue attracting companies and projects that generate employment, as well as providing tools to improve training and job opportunities for residents.

The City Council maintains training, job orientation, and professional qualification programs, along with entrepreneurship initiatives. Among the recent actions is Punto Cámara-Tres Cantos, a service in collaboration with the Official Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services of Madrid that offers specialized advice, training, and mentoring to entrepreneurs and companies.
The September data confirms the downward trend in registered unemployment, although it highlights the weight of women and those over 44 years old among those still seeking work in the municipality.
