Sika participates for the first time as a co-organiser of the International Architecture Week of Madrid, which takes place from October 2 to 13 with Switzerland as the guest country.
Sika participates for the first time as a co-organising company in the XXIII International Architecture Week of Madrid, which is held from October 2 to 13 in the capital. The event is driven by the Fundación Arquitectura COAM, the Official College of Architects of Madrid (COAM), and the City Council of Madrid, with the institutional support of the Community of Madrid, as reported by ConstruNario.
The company, founded in Switzerland in 1910 and with its global headquarters in Baar (Zug canton), thus strengthens its ties with the sector after years of supporting the event. In this edition, Switzerland is the guest country, with the participation of its embassy in Spain.
The general director of Sika, Gonzalo Causin, explained the reasons for this step:
For Sika, it is especially important this year to move from supporting the International Architecture Week to being involved as co-organisers. Architecture largely determines how we live, how our cities function, and how we can respond to challenges such as decarbonisation, the rehabilitation of the built environment, or adaptation to climate change.
The connection with Switzerland is reflected in several activities. On Monday, October 5, Sika will be present at Baukultur – a Swiss-Spanish exchange, a day organised by the Swiss Embassy in Spain that will invite architecture firms. The meeting will bring together professionals to exchange experiences on the quality of the built environment and the current challenges in the sector.
On Friday, October 9, the company will participate in Swiss Materia, organised by MATCOAM under the title Innovation, design and Swiss material culture. In this context, Sika will present the intervention "Material innovation for more efficient construction", where it will showcase solutions for more efficient building in the face of technical, environmental, and construction challenges.
On the same day, Sika will organise "The Voice of the Architect", a dialogue with professionals to understand their needs, difficulties, and expectations towards manufacturers. The small, participatory format will address issues such as recurring problems in projects, the ideal relationship between architects and manufacturers, or the products and systems that are lacking in the market.
The initiative connects with KLAVE, Sika's team of specialists aimed at providing technical support to professionals. The company seeks to engage in discussions about the future of building and strengthen direct dialogue with the community.
The International Architecture Week of Madrid will once again turn the capital into a meeting point for professionals, institutions, and citizens around architecture, urbanism, design, and heritage. Activities will take place from October 2 to 13 at various venues in Madrid.
