120 students from Torrejón de Ardoz have completed the 'Alumnos Mediadores' programme to prevent conflicts in their schools. This is the first time the initiative has reached the city's eight public schools.
According to Noticias para Municipios, 120 students from Torrejón de Ardoz have completed the latest edition of the municipal programme ‘Alumnos Mediadores’, aimed at preventing conflicts and bullying situations in schools.
The initiative, driven by the Local Police and the Department of Welfare, is a pioneering project that has reached all eight public schools in the city for the first time in this edition, as reported by the City Council.
During the training, participants learned mediation tools to detect coexistence problems, act in conflict situations, and promote dialogue among peers. They now apply what they have learned in their schools, where each class has the role of Mediator Agent, whose members participated in sessions held at Parque Europa.
The students received their diplomas in October, during an event with Mayor Alejandro Navarro Prieto, and Councillor for Welfare, Education and Immigration, Rubén Martínez, along with police and social welfare officials linked to the project.
The City Council reminds that the programme ‘Torrejón media: classroom without conflicts’ received recognition from the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP) and the National Association of Tutor Agents (ANAT) at the III National Awards for Good Practices, in the categories of ‘Perseverance and effort’ and ‘Special awards to institutions’.
