Requesting the Transport Card costs 4 euros, and the duplicate for theft or loss costs 6 euros. From 15 January 2026, the monthly pass can also be validated with an Android mobile.

According to madridactual.es, obtaining the Personal Public Transport Card for the first time costs 4 euros, and the duplicate for theft or loss costs 6 euros, according to information from the Regional Transport Consortium of Madrid (CRTM). The card can be requested online, with delivery to your home in a week, or in person at a Management Office, with a prior appointment requested at webttp.comunidad.madrid or by calling 012. At the office, the photo is taken on the spot and the card is issued the same day.

The card has a 3-year warranty, during which it is replaced for free if damaged, except for misuse, and its lifespan is 10 years.

Renewal is processed at a Management Office with an identity document, the card, and a valid certificate of residence, which costs 4 euros. It can be requested up to 2 months before it expires, and the new card is issued immediately. Large families do not need the certificate of residence.

If the card is lost or stolen, the duplicate costs 6 euros. To recover the loaded titles, you must go in person, with a valid identity document, to a Management Office that offers balance recovery. The Consortium blocks the lost card and issues another with the titles within 5 working days at most. If there were no titles or the user renounces them, the new card is issued immediately.

The duplicate can also be requested online, in the section for theft or loss at webttp.comunidad.madrid. In that case, the card arrives empty at home in 5 working days and the titles from the previous card are lost without the possibility of recovery.

If the card has an Annual Pass loaded, the blocking and duplicate can only be processed in person, as well as when the holder is a minor without an ID. The Tourist Public Transport Card is not refundable or reissued if lost or stolen: another must be purchased for 2.50 euros at Metro and Metro Ligero machines, in tobacconists, and at other authorized points.

From 15 January 2026, the My Transport Card app allows the monthly pass to be validated with the phone. According to the regional government, it initially benefits over 3 million users, but only works on Android 9.0 or higher, with NFC activated and Google Wallet installed. The app replaces the old top-up application and the one that virtualized the Multi Card. The regional government indicated that the CRTM is working to incorporate company annual passes and iOS devices in 2026.

From the app, you can check the balance, top up the physical card, purchase and recharge the virtual one, register a bank card, view invoices, and report incidents. The titles of the virtual card are linked to the Google Wallet account, so they are lost if the account is changed, and the same card cannot be used on two phones at the same time. To transfer it to another mobile, you must use the option "Move card to another device" and activate it on the new phone.

Finally, the CRTM continues to publish the 30-day pass starting from 28.70 euros, the 30-day pass for people with disabilities starting from 22.90 euros, and the +65 Pass, free and valid for 365 days. The Consortium's Board of Directors agreed on 29 December 2025 to maintain the extraordinary discounts in effect since 1 July 2025: a 50% discount on the Youth Pass and a 40% discount on other titles.
