The Rivas Vaciamadrid City Council will remove dividers in certain sections of its bike lanes and enhance signage. They will be maintained in other areas.

According to Noticias para Municipios, the Rivas Vaciamadrid City Council is preparing changes to its bike lane network to improve circulation and road safety. The actions include removing dividers in certain sections, maintaining them in others, and enhancing signage.

The removal will affect unidirectional sections that run alongside a single lane for other vehicles, as long as safety is guaranteed. At these points, road markings and horizontal signage will be reinforced to facilitate coexistence between bicycles and cars.

The dividers will be retained in bidirectional bike lanes located in the median of the roadway and in unidirectional sections adjacent to two lanes for other traffic.

The council frames these changes within the agreements of the Mobility Observatory and the needs identified in municipal surveys. According to the City Council, the goal is to give the cycling network a

greater continuity and homogeneity

The measures are in addition to other recent actions, such as the remodeling of two roundabouts on Aurelio Álvarez Avenue to convert them into Dutch-style roundabouts, and the installation of smart traffic lights at 18 intersections as part of the Rivas Intelligent Tourist Destination (DTI) project. These traffic lights adjust waiting times to actual traffic.

The City Council also plans to complete the pending connections of the cycling network and create more direct routes.
