The Community of Madrid has inaugurated a bike parking facility at the Moncloa station with the presence of Miguel Induráin. Travellers can access the entire Metro network for free with their bicycle today, Saturday and Sunday.
The Community of Madrid has launched a new bike parking facility inside the Moncloa station on Line 6 of the Metro, coinciding with the European Mobility Week. The Minister of Housing, Transport and Infrastructure, Jorge Rodrigo, travelled with former cyclist Miguel Induráin along the route between Moncloa and Ciudad Universitaria before inaugurating the facility, as reported by larazon.es.
The aim is for users to combine cycling and public transport in their daily commutes. With this opening, Metro de Madrid now has twelve bike parking facilities distributed throughout the network.
The spaces are available at the stations of Arganzuela-Planetario, Fuente de la Mora, La Peseta, Rivas Futura, Chamartín, Nuevos Ministerios, Colonia Jardín, Puerta del Sur, Plaza de Castilla, Moncloa, Plaza Elíptica and Ciudad Universitaria.
During today and on Saturday and Sunday, travellers who travel with their bicycle can access the entire Metro network for free. The measure aims to facilitate intermodal journeys in the region.
Every year, more than 2,000 people access the Madrid subway with their bicycle. Lines 12, 3 and 10 are the most used, especially at the stations of El Casar, Príncipe Pío, San Cristóbal, Puerta del Sur, Plaza de España, Puerta de Arganda, Nuevos Ministerios, Arganda del Rey, Embajadores and Plaza de Castilla.
Bicycle access is permitted on trains according to the rules and schedules set by Metro, which can be consulted on their website. On Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, it is possible to travel with them throughout the day.
