The military parade on 12 October will necessitate the closure of the traffic axis from the Emperador Carlos V roundabout, near Atocha, to the Colón square. The main restrictions will be in place on Monday 12 October between 7:00 and 15:00 hours, according to the plan designed by the City Council of Madrid.
The military parade will start at 11:00 hours and municipal forecasts indicate an attendance of around 80,000 people. The City Council recommends using public transport and advises using the M-30 and M-40 for long journeys by private vehicle, as reported by epe.es.
From early morning, the Emperador Carlos V square and the Paseo del Prado, the Cánovas del Castillo square, the Cibeles square and the Paseo de Recoletos will be closed to traffic, as well as the Colón square and the Plaza de la Lealtad. The streets Antonio Maura, between the Plaza de la Lealtad and Alfonso XI; Ruiz de Alarcón, between Montalbán and Academia; Felipe IV, between the Paseo del Prado and Moreto; Alfonso XII, between the Paseo de la Infanta Isabel and Montalbán; San Germán, between the Paseo de la Castellana and Poeta Joan Maragall; the Murillo square and the Espalter street; Academia, between Ruiz de Alarcón and Moreto; the Paseo de Santa María de la Cabeza, between the Emperador Carlos V roundabout and Batalla del Salado; the Paseo de Reina Cristina, from the Mariano de Cavia square to Alfonso XII; the Avenida de Ciudad de Barcelona, between Doctor Esquerdo and the Paseo de Reina Cristina; the Avenida de Menéndez Pelayo, and the Paseo de la Infanta Isabel, between the Carlos V roundabout and Alfonso XII will also be cut off.
Starting from 9:00 hours, new restrictions will be added in the Colón, Serrano and Paseo de la Castellana areas. Specifically, sections of Serrano, between Armada Española and Marqués de Villamagna; Génova, towards Colón up to Zurbano, and the streets Goya, Hermosilla and Ayala, between Castellana and Serrano will be affected.
The plan will also impact public transport. A total of 48 EMT lines will modify their routes or experience diversions throughout the day, and Bicimad will temporarily take 11 stations near the parade out of service on the 11th and 12th.
Traffic will gradually resume as cleaning and removal of parade elements progresses, around 15:00 hours.
