The City Council of Madrid expects 5,000 participants in Mobility Week. Paseo del Prado will be closed to traffic from 8:30 to 20:00 hours.

Mobility Week 2026 reaches its peak this weekend in Madrid with a programme focused on sustainable transport. The epicentre will be this Sunday along the Atocha-Recoletos axis, where around 5,000 people are expected to participate, according to the City Council of Madrid.

The day includes an exhibition and parade on the street with historic buses from EMT and vintage taxis, as well as scavenger hunts and participatory circuits for all audiences, as reported by telemadrid.es.

To ensure the safety of the events, a special traffic plan has been established. The main restriction affects the Paseo del Prado, closed on its central lane towards Plaza de Cibeles from 08:30 to 20:00 hours.

During the opening day, a cycling route was also held from the Temple of Debod to the Puerta de Alcalá. The first 50 to arrive received a prize from Respiro, and the first 20 received a month free on BiciMAD.

The mayor highlighted that Madrid promotes sustainable mobility and consolidates itself as the capital with the best air quality in Europe.

The event coincides with a record use of BiciMAD: on September 8, nearly 86,000 trips were recorded in a single day. Between July and August, over 2.6 million trips were made, an 80% increase compared to two years ago.
