The Civil Guard has arrested four people for their alleged involvement in the murder of an 80-year-old woman, found dead on May 6 in her home in Galapagar, where she lived alone. According to miracorredor.tv, the victim is Elia Cobián, former owner of the historic Cobián Stores, located next to the Pontejos square in Madrid.

The arrests took place on Tuesday, October 20: two in the San Gregorio neighbourhood of Galapagar, one in Madrid city, and another in Villajoyosa (Alicante). Among those arrested are the alleged material authors of the crime, as reported by the Civil Guard. The operation included three home searches in Galapagar.

The victim was found bound, gagged, and beaten inside her home, located on the Sobrepeña estate, which spans about ten hectares, in the La Navata area. Some workers saw a broken window and, unable to contact her, alerted her lawyer, who had keys. Upon entering, he found the lifeless body.

The house was ransacked and several personal items were missing, leading investigators to primarily suspect a violent robbery. On September 29, the Civil Guard conducted a reconstruction of the crime at the residence. According to the investigation, the suspects were captured by the cameras of a service station about three kilometres from the estate, and from there their trail was lost.

Elia Cobián ran the Cobián Stores, a haberdashery that closed in 2018. Her former premises now houses a souvenir shop. The proceedings remain under secrecy and the detainees will be brought before a judge in the coming hours.
