According to information published by madridinforma.es, the Madrid City Council allows you to check traffic fines online and pay them with a 50% discount when applicable. To apply the reduction, the deadline is 20 calendar days from the day after notification. Once this period has expired, the option to pay half disappears.
The most direct way to check if there are any pending municipal fines is through Mi Carpeta, on the website madrid.es. To access it, you must identify yourself with Cl@ve, a digital certificate, or electronic DNI. Inside, the fines section shows the pending traffic files that can be paid during the voluntary period. Information can also be requested at municipal citizen service offices and, for a complete file, at the office on calle Albarracín, 33, which operates by appointment only.
Mi Carpeta does not display debts that are already in executive proceedings nor fines imposed by the DGT, which must be checked through their own channels. The deadline to pay or submit appeals starts when the notice is considered notified, not at the time of the infraction. Notification can arrive via an agent, by postal mail, or through the Electronic Traffic Address, and in some cases, it is published in the Official State Bulletin through the Unique Edict Board.
A notice placed on the windshield by a controller from the Regulated Parking Service (SER) is only informational and does not equate to a notification. If the notice can be cancelled due to exceeding the paid time, it can be cancelled by following the instructions on the parking meter within the hour following the expiration of the ticket. If it cannot, you must wait for the official notification.
To pay without a digital certificate, the official traffic fines payment service on the electronic headquarters uses the notification data. Payments are also accepted at 010 and at designated offices. Online payment during the voluntary period is available until 20:00 hours on the last day. Paying with a discount closes the procedure, meaning no appeals or subsequent resources can be made, and the discount does not prevent the loss of points when the infraction entails it.
