From October 2 to 12, Madrid hosts over 200 Hispanic activities in 70 venues, featuring artists from 23 nationalities and the USA as the guest country.
The Community of Madrid celebrates Hispanic Day once again with a programme that runs from October 2 to 12 and includes more than 200 activities spread across over 70 venues in the region, as reported by larazon.es. The theme for this edition is "All the Accents of Spanish Fit in Madrid".
Music will be one of the central pillars. Plaza de España, Puerta del Sol, and Plaza Mayor will host more than 30 concerts and performances. In Plaza de España, Sebastián Yatra will kick off the stage on October 10, Marta Sánchez will perform on October 11 to celebrate her 40 years of career, and Carlos Baute will close the programme on October 12, Hispanic Day.
Other artists performing will include Arturo Sandoval, Nat Simons, La Chica, Aymée Nuviola, Lin Cortés, 091, Aterciopelados, Tori Sparks, and Jenny and The Mexicats, among others. Music will also reach the Museo Cerralbo, Casa Museo Lope de Vega, Las Ventas, Real Academia Española, and Auditorio Nacional.
Dance will have its space with proposals such as The Cave by Kor’sia at the Arab walls of the Royal Collections Gallery; Lo que ya fueron otros by La Venidera at the Costume Museum; and the gala for the 30th anniversary of Larumbe Danza at the Municipal Theatre of Coslada.
The USA will be the guest country for this edition, coinciding with the 250th anniversary of its independence. Its participation will be articulated through exhibitions, music, and conferences. Key proposals include the exhibition "1776-We The Hispanics" at Puerta del Sol; a film cycle dedicated to Carmen Amaya and Antonio el Bailarín in the USA; and the exhibitions "Portraying Mestizaje" at the Casa Museo Lope de Vega and "The American Footprint in Madrid" at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando. There will also be meetings on heritage, history, and culture at the Senate, Royal Botanical Garden, and Ateneo, along with participation from the NFL.
Family audiences will have their own programme at Parque de Santander and the Gardens of the Palace of Vista Alegre, featuring theatre, puppets, circus, clowns, acrobatics, parades, and giant figures. The Teatros del Canal and Teatro de La Abadía will complete the agenda with concerts, plays, and dance performances, including "Nascencia" by the Spanish Ballet of the Community of Madrid.
The kick-off will be on Sunday, October 4, with the Hispanic Parade, which will traverse Gran Vía from 6:00 PM with 15 floats and delegations from the 23 participating nationalities. On October 12, Plaza de Cibeles will host the traditional pyromusical show.
The organisation hopes to surpass the figures from the previous edition, which gathered over 900,000 people.
