The HUB232 in El Cantizal has gathered professionals and companies from the sector at a gala that recognises innovation in cybersecurity, IT expertise, and new technologies.
The HUB232 in El Cantizal, in Las Rozas, hosted the awards ceremony for the PETEC 2026 Awards, annual awards granted by the Professional Association of Experts in New Technologies to recognise professionals, companies, and initiatives in cybersecurity, IT expertise, and new technologies, as reported by capitalnoroeste.es.
The event was attended by the mayor of Las Rozas, José de la Uz; the Deputy Minister of Digitalisation of the Community of Madrid, Manuel Pérez; the deputy mayor and councillor for Digital Office, Gustavo Rico; the councillor for Economy, Employment, and Innovation, Alba Monteiro; the general director of Digital Office, Virginia Moreno Bonilla; and the president of PETEC, Fernando Mairata, who opened the ceremony.
As a new feature of this edition, the PETEC community on LinkedIn participated in selecting the winners in various categories. The María Jesús Carrascosa Award for Professional Career went to Laura Giménez; the Cybersecurity Communicator award was given to Raúl Guillén; Elena García Armada received the award for Relevant Personality; the Digital Talent award went to Beatriz Gómez Hermosilla; the Ángel Pablo Avilés Values award was won by Antonio Mancera Cárdenas; the Associate of the Year award was given to Miguel Ángel de la Torre; the Deputy Minister of Digitalisation of the Community of Madrid, Miguel López-Valverde, won the Accessible Technologies Juan Carlos Ramírez Award; and Cyber Workforce, from the Somos F5 Foundation, received the award for Cybersecurity Project, presented by the mayor of Las Rozas.
De la Uz closed the event and congratulated the awardees. In his speech, he highlighted the value of the work of these professionals:
Digital transformation requires prepared professionals, shared knowledge, and trust. The more digital we become, the more important it is to use technology with rigor and responsibility. Cybersecurity is part of security.
The mayor also received recognition from PETEC for Las Rozas for its commitment to cybersecurity and for being the host of these awards.
In 2025, the City Council of Las Rozas was already distinguished by PETEC with the Medal for Merit in Cyber Defence for strengthening its security systems and procedures, its awareness initiatives (with training in schools through the Local Police), and its integration into the National Cybersecurity Operators Network. In 2022, it created the Information Security Committee and in 2023, it launched the Security Operations Centre, which centrally supervises all municipal technological infrastructure.
