Former Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas asserts that the José Mourinho who has returned to the Santiago Bernabéu is different from the one he knew between 2010 and 2013. He stated this on his YouTube channel during a conversation with Germán 'Mono' Burgos.

The former captain of Real Madrid Iker Casillas has analysed José Mourinho's return to the Santiago Bernabéu bench and pointed out that the Portuguese coach has changed compared to the one he knew between 2010 and 2013. This information is reported by estadiodeportivo.com.

Casillas explained that the coach retains his talent and his status as a successful manager, but has arrived with a different idea. "It's another José. He doesn't look... He looks like the same successful coach, with his talent and so on, but he has come with a different idea," he stated on his YouTube channel during a conversation with Germán 'Mono' Burgos.

The one who has come to Madrid is another Mourinho, he is the same successful coach with talent, but he has arrived differently

The former goalkeeper emphasised that the current Mourinho retains the characteristics that made him one of the most recognised coaches, but has modified his approach to certain situations. "I still laugh, I remember many things..." he acknowledged while reminiscing about those years.

The relationship between the two broke down during the Portuguese's first stint at Madrid, with controversial decisions such as the bet on Antonio Adán and later on Diego López in goal, and the suspicion of the so-called 'mole' in the dressing room, after the coach reported internal leaks.

Mourinho himself has shown a more moderate discourse since his return. In his initial statements, he focused on his role in service of the club: "I want to emphasise that the idea is that I work for Real Madrid, not in Real Madrid." However, he maintained his character after the last derby against Atlético Madrid, with criticisms of the refereeing by Miguel Ángel Ortiz Arias.

Casillas's view contrasts with the memories Mourinho offers in the Netflix documentary released in August about his career. The Portuguese recounts three initial conversations with the goalkeeper in which he requested more holidays for the Spanish internationals, a change in training times due to Madrid traffic, and that players go directly to the stadium instead of concentrating in the hotel. "In a short time, I realised they were spoiled," Mourinho states in the production.
