The Madrid Agency for Security and Emergencies 112 activates the Pre-emergency Phase of the Inuncam plan in response to Aemet alerts for rain and storms. The Sierra will be on orange alert until 6 AM on Sunday.
The Madrid Agency for Security and Emergencies 112 (ASEM112) has activated the Pre-emergency Phase of the Special Civil Protection Plan against Flood Risk (Inuncam) this Saturday due to alerts from the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) for rain and storms, as reported by larazon.es.
The orange alert affects the Sierra area until 6 AM on Sunday. During this period, locally heavy rainfall and storms are expected, which may be accompanied by hail, with up to 30 mm of rain accumulating in one hour.
For the rest of the Community of Madrid, a yellow alert is in place for the same phenomena during the same time frame, also with a possibility of hail and accumulations of up to 15 mm in one hour.
The yellow alert will be active from 3 PM on Saturday until 6 AM on Sunday in most of the region. In the Sierra, this alert escalates to orange, where showers will be stronger in the early morning and could reach 40 mm in one hour.
After a lull between 6 AM and 3 PM on Sunday, the yellow alert will be reactivated across the region at that time. By the end of the day, the most intense storms will move to the southeast of the Community.
The sky will be cloudy or overcast, with mist and fog banks in the high areas of the Sierra during the early morning and morning. Minimum temperatures will drop slightly, while maximum temperatures will remain unchanged, with a slight rise in the Sierra.
The wind will be light and variable, predominantly from the north during the early morning, shifting to the east by morning. In the afternoon, it will come from the west in the southern half and will shift to the east by the end of the day.
The pre-emergency phase of Inuncam remains active as long as Aemet alerts are in effect. The 112 emergency service advises residents in affected areas to exercise extreme caution and avoid unnecessary travel during peak intensity hours.
