Más Madrid has presented a motion for the upcoming Plenary of Alcobendas asking the City Council to intervene in the indefinite educational strike, active since October 14 in Madrid's public education.
According to elcongresista.mx, Más Madrid has submitted a motion for the next Plenary of the Alcobendas City Council requesting the local government to intervene in the indefinite strike of public education in Madrid, which began on October 14.
The strike also affects educators in nursery schools since April 7. The motion reminds that the Community of Madrid is one of the lowest investors in education, with less than €6,000 per student, and that this lack of resources results in overcrowded classrooms, few means for educational support, and an excessive administrative burden on teachers.
With thousands of teachers and educators on strike, there is no excuse to keep looking the other way
This was stated by Mariano Cañas Velasco, spokesperson for Más Madrid Alcobendas.
Among the proposals, the party calls for reducing class hours to 17 in Secondary and 22 in Primary, decreasing the number of students per classroom, and increasing educational investment. It also demands a climate control plan for 1,400 educational centres and that the City Council does not use municipal resources to cover the absences of striking staff.
Más Madrid also proposes to open negotiations with the strike committee to address the demands of teachers and educators. The municipal government team has not yet responded to the motion.
