The Community of Madrid outlines the Summa 360 Plan in five axes to strengthen the emergency medical service. Doctors will earn €5,760 more per year, nurses €3,700, and technicians €2,350.
The Community of Madrid has designed the Summa 360 Plan, an initiative with five axes to reinforce the regional Emergency Medical Service. The main measure is a budget of €7.9 million in 2027 aimed at improving the salaries of all staff at Summa 112, as reported by madridactual.es.
The increases will be applied by professional categories. Doctors will receive an annual increase of €5,760; nurses, €3,700; and emergency medical technicians, €2,350 per year.
The plan also creates a Technical Table within the Sectoral Health Table, where the Ministry and unions are already represented. This body will operate as a stable subcommittee with all parties involved to analyse the challenges of the sector and raise proposals to the Sectoral Table.
The Community justifies this structure due to the uniqueness of the service, where assistance with mobile resources coexists, a coordinating emergency centre, permanent operation, and response to disasters and incidents with multiple victims, in addition to the diversity of professional profiles.
The third axis is a Plan for Action and Improvement of the Bases from which the service's work is organised. The review includes moving the oldest bases to more modern spaces and opening new ones where greater operational presence is needed. Bases of Summa 112 will also be integrated into the planning of future health centres.
In mobile resources, the plan includes a comprehensive renewal and expansion of the fleet. This October, the contract for the Mobile Intensive Care Units (UVI) will be tendered, with fleet expansion and technical improvements. Before the end of the year, contracts for Home Care Units and Rapid Intervention Vehicles will be tendered.
The fifth axis affects the uniformity of staff, which will be adapted to different work environments. There will be new clothing and specific equipment for positions that do not require the permanent use of intervention PPE, such as the Coordinating Centre, to gain comfort without compromising safety standards.
The salary increase of €7.9 million is planned for 2027. The tender for the UVI will be published this October, and the contracts for home units and rapid vehicles before the end of the year.
