Four DGT cameras at the entrances to Madrid issue fines for crossing solid lines. The firm Dvuelta has won 329 appeals on this matter.

According to Libertad Digital, the fines from four cameras of the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) monitoring the solid line on various access roads to Madrid are generating controversy. The devices were installed in November 2025.

The cameras take two photographs: one captures the position of the vehicle and the other checks if it has changed lanes. If the car appears in one lane in the first image and in another in the second, the system assumes the solid line has been crossed.

The firm Dvuelta, specialised in defending drivers, argues that these two photographs do not always capture the exact moment of the crossing. Without a third image showing it, they believe the infringement cannot be proven and that the presumption of innocence should apply. Furthermore, they demand that the devices be signposted, as fixed speed cameras are.

The firm has won 329 appeals on this matter, after the DGT archived the procedure acknowledging that the operation does not comply with the established legislation. A specific case does not imply that all fines from these cameras are annulled, as each file is examined separately.

What to check before appealing

Dvuelta recommends checking five aspects of the file: whether the photos show the crossing, which camera reported it and its location, the license plate, the date and time, the signage in the area, and whether the notification includes the necessary evidence.

The four cameras are located in the lanes heading towards the capital: the A-1, at kilometre 15.9, in Alcobendas; the A-2, at kilometre 11.8, in the vicinity of Barajas; the A-6, at kilometre 20.2, in Las Rozas; and the A-42, at kilometre 16.9, in Getafe.

The fine for this infringement is €200. There are 20 calendar days, counted from the day after the notification, to pay with a 50% reduction (€100) or to present appeals, according to articles 94 and 95 of the Traffic Law. If paid within that period, the right to appeal is forfeited, and if appeals have already been submitted, they are considered not submitted. If an appeal is made, the possibility of early payment is lost.
