Más Madrid has taken down the banner with the word "NADA" aimed at the mayor, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, from Calle Mayor. The Electoral Board of Madrid had given 24 hours to remove it following a complaint from the PP.
According to Noticias para Municipios, Más Madrid has removed the banner that hung on Calle Mayor and criticized the mayor's rental policies, José Luis Martínez-Almeida. The party is thus complying with the order from the Electoral Board of Madrid, which on Tuesday upheld a complaint from the PP and gave a 24-hour deadline from the notification to take down the poster.
The poster, placed on the balconies of the Edificio de Grupos, at number 71 on Calle Mayor, reproduced a post from the social network X from 2021. At that time, Más Madrid wrote "NADA" to mock what the mayor intended to do about rental prices, and Almeida responded with an "Exactly".
The Board considers that the poster had "partisan content" and was hung on the facade of a municipally owned property. According to the agreement, which Europa Press has accessed, it also spread a message contrary to one of the parties running in the general elections.
The spokesperson for Más Madrid, Rita Maestre, lamented on her social media that the mayor has "forced" them to remove the banner.
He posted the tweet all by himself
Almeida replied that the removal was not his decision, but that of the electoral body, and accused Maestre of being untruthful.
It is the Electoral Board that forces Más Madrid to remove that banner
