Batres, in the south of the Community of Madrid, preserves a 15th-century brick castle with freely accessible grounds. Just a few steps away, the Garcilaso Fountain and the Clay Formations complete an easy route.

According to noticiasdelvino.com, the municipality of Batres, in the south of the Community of Madrid, features three points of interest: a historic castle, a fountain associated with Garcilaso de la Vega, and a landscape of red clay formations known as Cárcavas.

The castle of Batres was mainly built in the 15th century with brick, and its keep stands out. According to the same publication, the poet lived in this building. Its interior is primarily reserved for private events and weddings, while the exterior grounds are freely accessible.

A path leads from the fortress to the Garcilaso Fountain, a small corner surrounded by riverside vegetation and shade trees. The walk is free and easy to navigate.

The Cárcavas of Batres are the result of water erosion on the red clay, creating a landscape of ridges and cracks. The publication recommends avoiding them after a heavy storm, as the clayey ground becomes very slippery, and choosing a clear day.

Batres is part of the Regional Park of the Middle Course of the Guadarrama River, a protected area of holm oaks, broom, and pines. On its paths, it is possible to see rabbits, partridges, and some birds of prey nesting on the nearby cliffs.
