The Governing Council has approved the extension of the youth public transport pass to 30 years, which will take effect from next year. The measure will benefit over 600,000 residents of Madrid.

The Governing Council of the Community of Madrid has given the green light to the extension of the youth transport pass, which from 2026 will be available to residents of Madrid up to 30 years old, according to transporte3.com. Until now, this pass was only available for those under 26 years old.

The measure, announced by the Vice President and Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, will affect around 600,000 users of the Metro network, urban and interurban buses, and Cercanías trains in the region. The new pass will maintain the current price of 8 euros per month for young people.

The extension is part of the regional government's strategy to promote the use of public transport among young people and facilitate their mobility. The ministry emphasizes that the measure aims to "support the emancipation and training" of this group.

The new youth pass will be available for purchase from January 1, 2026 at Metro self-service machines, management offices, and the public transport mobile app. Interested individuals will need to prove their age and residency in the Community of Madrid.
