Madrid adds seven outdoor play areas spread across Madrid Río, El Retiro, Plaza de España, Villaverde, Usera, Carabanchel, and several central squares. Some exceed 500 square meters and others include inclusive elements.
The capital boasts seven outdoor children's play areas distributed across various districts and parks, according to a selection published by guiadelocio.es. The offerings range from large spaces with dozens of elements to small installations in central squares, designed for a stop during a stroll.
The Madrid Río park features 17 play areas with 65 elements adapted for different ages. Among the attractions are the slide hill, the log jungle, a super zip line, and rope courses, using materials like wood and rope.
In the heart of the city, Plaza de España has a children's area with large slides, next to the Royal Palace. El Retiro park distributes 11 play areas throughout its grounds, which can be combined with a walk around the pond or the nearby Paseo del Arte.
In Villaverde, the main attraction is the Torre Ingeniería, a structure nearly ten meters high made up of two connected towers and several platforms at different levels. It includes slides, climbing areas with ropes, and a fireman’s pole, as well as a carousel, inclusive seesaws, and sand play with diggers.
The installation in Usera measures approximately 14 by 20 meters and features over twenty play elements.
In the Plaza de las Tizas, in Usera, there is a play area shaped like a red dragon measuring about 14 by 20 meters, with more than twenty elements spread across the body and tail of the creature. It includes a maze panel, basket swing, vine circuit, and climbing wall.
The Salvador Allende park, in Carabanchel, houses a children's area of about 540 square meters designed for children of various ages and abilities.
Central Madrid completes the list with children's areas in squares such as Tirso de Molina, Santa Ana, Lavapiés, and Dos de Mayo, as well as areas along Calle Fuencarral. These facilities allow for play without having to travel to a large park.
The choice of area allows for combining playtime with a stroll, a cultural visit, or an afternoon in one of the city's large parks.
