The Teatro MIRA hosted the patron's event with medals for the Inmemorial del Rey regiment, National Police agents, healthcare personnel, and volunteers. The mayor, Paloma Tejero, presided over the ceremony alongside Chief Commissioner Félix Castillo.
The Municipal Police of Pozuelo de Alarcón awarded a dozen recognitions this Friday at the event for their patron, Our Lady of Remedio, held at the Teatro MIRA. The ceremony was presided over by the mayor, Paloma Tejero, accompanied by Chief Commissioner Félix Castillo, and the General Director of the Madrid 112 Security and Emergency Agency, Pedro Antonio Ruiz, as reported by espaciodiario.com.
The day began with a review of the formation and the raising of the Spanish flag. Medals of homage and gratitude approved by the City Council last July were then awarded.
Among the honorees was Colonel Pedro Javier Bello Acevedo, head of the Inmemorial del Rey Number 1 Infantry Regiment, distinguished for his institutional collaboration. This collaboration is realised each year in the Flag Tribute parade that Pozuelo holds on the eve of National Day, which this year will take place on Sunday, October 4 at 11:45 AM at the roundabout connecting Luis García Cereceda and Casablanca avenues.
Recognition was also given to members of the State Security Forces: José Francisco López and Igor Fernández, Chief Inspector and Inspector of the Pozuelo National Police Station. Plaques of gratitude were awarded to Emilio José González and Julio Alberto Pérez from the Pozuelo Emergency Service (SEAPA), and to doctors from the Puerta de Hierro Hospital Alfonso Ortega and Ana Amaro. In the same category, the General Director of Metro Ligero, Pablo Escoda, and the Operations Manager of the Avanza Group, José Miguel Alarcón, were also distinguished.
The plaques also went to the former Chief of the Pozuelo National Police until December 2025, José Manuel Valle; the previous SEAPA coordinator, Juan Antonio González; Civil Protection volunteers Juan Pedro de Blas and Jorge Rodríguez; and residents Antonio Gómez and Roberto García.
Municipal agent Rubén Sánchez received the police merit badge in the Gold Gallon category for his performance in high-demand and risky situations. Additionally, several agents were recognised for their 25 years of uninterrupted service.

The mayor highlighted that security “needs police, resources, investment, authority, and support” and cited measures taken in recent years: the addition of 30 new agents, the purchase of new vehicles, the creation of a drone unit, and the incorporation of tasers.
Crime data from the Ministry of the Interior for the first half of this year places Pozuelo as the safest municipality in the region, with 14.8 total crimes and 10.3 conventional crimes per thousand inhabitants, ratios that no other Madrid municipality with over 20,000 inhabitants surpasses.
The event concluded with a demonstration by the canine unit of the Pozuelo Municipal Police and other localities in the Jardín Javier Ulecia.
