The XII State Congress of Unidad Progresista of ONCE has defined its strategy for the next four years, focused on employment and the personal autonomy of people with disabilities.

The Unidad Progresista (UP) group, the majority in the ONCE, concluded its XII State Congress this weekend, held at the facilities of the Universidad Francisco de Vitoria in Pozuelo de Alarcón. According to noroestemadrid.com, the meeting has established the lines of institutional management for the next four-year term.

The priorities focus on the modernisation of social services, lotteries, and the corporate boost of ILUNION and the Fundación ONCE. During the sessions, discussions were held on the institutional aspect of disability, social economy, and social agents, and the congress approved an agenda to move away from purely assistance-based schemes in favour of employment, personalised job guidance, and the utilisation of the European Social Fund.

The mayor of Pozuelo de Alarcón, Paloma Tejero, attended the meeting and highlighted the institutional support of her City Council for the event, as well as the entity's work in favour of inclusion.

The president of the Partido Popular, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, also spoke and defended

overcoming a merely assistance-based model of disability care and advancing towards one based on personal autonomy, with employment as a fundamental element

For his part, the general secretary of UGT, Pepe Álvarez, encouraged political forces to work on the rights of workers and defended health protection as a right.

The congress has reaffirmed the leadership of Unidad Progresista in ONCE, with a roadmap that includes technological accessibility.
