A total of 3,250 agents will guarantee the security of the XXX Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government, which will be held on November 4 and 5 in Madrid. According to noticentro.com.do, the operation brings together forces from the National Police, the Civil Guard, and the Municipal Police.
The National Police will provide 1,800 agents, mostly from the Police Intervention Unit, who will monitor the surroundings of the venues where activities will take place. They will be joined by Protection and Reaction units, intelligence personnel, and aerial resources.
The Civil Guard will have 650 personnel for the arrival of authorities at Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas and Torrejón de Ardoz airports, as well as for their movements. In these tasks, they will have the support of 800 agents from the Municipal Police of Madrid.
The Ministry of Defence will collaborate with resources to protect airspace, with capabilities against drones and cyber defence tools. These measures are aimed at preventing potential threats to both participants and the venues where official meetings will be held.
The coordination of the operation was discussed in a meeting held at the Government Delegation in Madrid, led by the deputy delegate Pilar Trinidad. Representatives from state institutions, security agencies, the Royal House, the City Council of Madrid, and entities related to transport and emergency response participated in the meeting.
The summit will bring together representatives from most countries in the Ibero-American Community and will be presided over by King Felipe VI. The attendance of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, is also confirmed.
