A 200 square metre work featuring the traditional Romanian blouse now adorns the Integrated Centre of La Poveda. It is the fourth large mural to be inaugurated in the town in a year and a half.

According to Madrid Actual, the Town Hall of Arganda del Rey inaugurated this Saturday a mural of 200 square metres at the Integrated Centre of La Poveda. The work commemorates 30 years of coexistence between the Romanian population and the other residents, coinciding with the International Day of Intangible Cultural Heritage.

The mural represents a traditional Romanian blouse, a symbol of identity and cultural heritage of Romania. The artist Joaquín Arroyo painted it based on a work by Romanian illustrator Roxana Irimia, as communicated by the Town Hall.

During the inauguration, the mayor of Arganda, Alberto Escribano, highlighted the significance of the anniversary:

It has been 30 years since thousands of people from Romania arrived in Arganda, setting an example of coexistence and cohesion, and this gesture today embodies the unity that has characterised us all this time.

This is the fourth large mural to be inaugurated in the town in the last year and a half. Previously, artist Sfhir painted two murals in the Era de Vedia, and Lidia Cao created another to pay tribute to women in the Spanish countryside, located at the Príncipe Felipe Sports City.
