The Civil Guard dismantles a criminal group with six arrests and plantations in Alcalá de Henares, Villalbilla, and Colmenar del Arroyo, as well as three municipalities in Guadalajara. A total of 2,898 plants and 41 kilos of marijuana have been seized.
The Civil Guard has dismantled a criminal group made up of six people allegedly dedicated to the cultivation, distribution, and sale of cannabis in the Community of Madrid and the province of Guadalajara. The operation, as reported by the armed institute, resulted in eight simultaneous entries and searches in Colmenar del Arroyo, Alcalá de Henares, and Villalbilla in Madrid, and in El Casar, Chiloeches, and Caraquiz in Guadalajara.
The investigation began last March when agents detected the possible existence of an organization dedicated to drug trafficking in the Henares Corridor, according to miracorredor.tv. Investigators located several chalets in urbanizations far from large population centres that were used to hide marijuana plantations. These facilities were supplied through illegal connections to the electrical grid.
The organization had several cultivation points to hinder police action, and its members had divided responsibilities: some cultivated and prepared the marijuana, others guarded the plantations, and the rest distributed and sold the drug in the Henares Corridor.
During the searches, agents dismantled four indoor plantations and seized 2,898 marijuana plants and 41 kilos of cannabis trim ready for sale. They also located a loaded firearm and blocked 20 bank accounts through which a flow of about 500,000 euros had circulated.
The six arrested individuals are charged with alleged crimes against public health, money laundering, illegal possession of firearms, electricity fraud, and belonging to a criminal group. After being brought before the judiciary, five of the six detainees have been placed in preventive detention.
