Merck's mobile laboratory will tour Tres Cantos, Alcobendas and Madrid from October 13 to 18 with experiments on synthetic biology. It will open to the public at the National Museum of Natural Sciences on October 17 and 18.

The Curiosity Cube, the mobile science laboratory of Merck, returns to the Community of Madrid for the fifth consecutive year. It is part of its European tour for 2026, with confirmed stops in Tres Cantos, Alcobendas, and the city of Madrid between October 13 and 18, as reported by the company through pharmatech.es.

The initiative is aimed at children and teenagers to spark their interest in science and technology, as well as STEM careers. In this edition, the experiments focus on synthetic biology, a discipline that participants will explore through practical and interactive activities.

Within the laboratory, students will use devices such as Cubelets and magnetic puzzles to conduct three experiments: exploring how the shape of enzymes influences biological processes with lock and key models; discovering how DNA codes determine traits and behaviours; and understanding how turning genes on and off can design solutions to real challenges. The activities will be guided by volunteer employees and collaborators from Merck.

The laboratory will open to the general public during the weekend of Saturday, October 17, and Sunday, October 18 at the National Museum of Natural Sciences in Madrid, from 10:30 to 14:30 and 16:30 to 19:30.

Additionally, on Tuesday, October 13, the unit is scheduled to be present in Tres Cantos, on Avenida de Colmenar Viejo, central promenade, at the height of Plaza Antonio Gala. The spokesperson for Merck at this stop will be Noemí Reguera, General Director of the Life Science Division of Merck in Spain.
