FEMADDI honoured 30 anonymous citizens and several entities at the Valores de Madrid awards gala, held at the Eduardo Úrculo Cultural Centre in the capital.
The Madrid Federation of People with Intellectual Disabilities (FEMADDI) presented the Valores de Madrid Awards at a gala held at the Eduardo Úrculo Cultural Centre, attended by over 200 guests. According to AS, the awards recognise individuals, entities, and companies that promote the inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities through sport.
A jury, which included Vicente del Bosque, selected the winners in seven categories. In the Anonymous Citizen category, 30 individuals were recognised for their daily work improving the lives of athletes with intellectual disabilities without usually being in the spotlight. Among them are Álvaro Núñez (A la Par), Isidro Rodríguez (Afanias Canillejas), and Lourdes Carretero (Baloncesto Ciudad de Móstoles).
The remaining awards went to Amadou Dialo in the Elite Athlete category, and CD Leganés in the Inclusive Initiative category. The organisations A la Par and Adisli received the award for Women's Sport, while Delfines sXXI was recognised in the Institutional Project category and the José María Lafuente Foundation in the Responsible Company category. In the Reportage category, José Barrero from RNE was awarded.
The gala was hosted by comedian Darío Mares and was the last presided over by Ángel Arévalo, who is stepping down after eight years at the helm of FEMADDI. During his tenure, the federation has become the regional entity with the most licenses for people with intellectual disabilities in Spain, with 3,500. Representatives from the Madrid City Council and the Community of Madrid attended the event.
