The Medical and Healthcare Strike Committee of the Community of Madrid has called for four blocks of strikes between October 28 and December 12. The decision comes after 53.1% of the 1,299 professionals consulted supported it.
Doctors and healthcare professionals in the Community of Madrid are called to strike in four blocks between October and December. This was announced by the Medical and Healthcare Strike Committee, which includes Amyts, AME, Stop Peonadas, MUD, and SIME-CSIT Unión Profesional, as reported by larazon.es.
The first block of strikes will begin at 8:00 AM on October 28 and will last until the same time on October 31. In November, there will be two calls: from November 4 to 7 and from November 18 to 21, both from 8:00 AM to 8:00 AM on the last day. The fourth block is scheduled from December 9 to 12, also starting at 8:00 AM.
The call responds to a consultation conducted by the committee among 1,299 doctors and healthcare professionals over two days. 53.1% supported continuing the strike, compared to 34.9% who opposed it and 12% who did not define their position.
The postponement of the national medical strike does not eliminate the reasons that have led Madrid professionals to mobilise. Unlike the national scenario, in the Community of Madrid there is an institutional interlocutor and a stable regional government capable of negotiating and responding to pending demands," the committee has stated.
The organisers justify the strikes due to the lack of progress in negotiations with the Health Department and the pending labour demands that depend on the regional government. The committee denounces the "blocking" of discussions to improve the conditions of the group.
The strikes will affect public healthcare centres in the region on the specified dates, with minimum services that the Health Department must establish before the start of each block.
