Isabel Díaz Ayuso recalls that she repeated a year at 13 after failing Maths and PE. She attributes the setback to a lack of motivation and her habit of talking in class.
According to trendencias.com, the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, shared in a June 2021 interview that she repeated a year at 13 after failing Maths and PE. The testimony, aired on the show 'Mi casa es la tuya' on Telecinco, has gained renewed interest now that she has announced her memoirs, titled 'Íntimo'.
Ayuso explained to Bertín Osborne that until she was 12 or 13, she had done well in her studies. Then came the difficulties with maths and a lack of interest, and she admitted that she talked a lot in class and found it hard to stay focused when a task did not motivate her.
If the tasks didn’t motivate me, I would quickly start whispering to the person behind me.
After repeating the year, she asked her parents for a change of school. At first, according to her account, she didn’t tell her father the whole truth and asked her mother to trust that she would catch up on the subjects she had failed. She then resolved to study hard to avoid causing them more distress.
I started studying, studying, and I got very good grades.
The change of school resulted in an improvement in her grades, to the point that she became one of the best students in her class. Later, she studied Journalism at the Complutense University of Madrid, a course she chose because it had the highest entry requirements for humanities at the time. During the interview, she remembered that university period as particularly happy.
