The president of Madrid reiterates her confidence in the mayor of Móstoles, who is summoned to declare on December 1 as a suspect in alleged sexual and workplace harassment.
The president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, has once again expressed her political backing for the mayor of Móstoles, Manuel Bautista, during the event marking the start of the political course for the PP of Madrid held this Saturday in Getafe. The support comes just over a month before the mayor is to testify before the judge.
According to noticiasparamunicipios.com, Bautista is summoned to declare on December 1 as a suspect in the lawsuit filed by a former PP councillor for alleged sexual and workplace harassment. The magistrate of court number 2 of the Violence Against Women Section of the Móstoles Court rejected the request for dismissal made by the defence and keeps the case open.
This is not the first time Ayuso has shown her confidence in the mayor. Last July, after the judicial decision to continue the investigation was made known, the president stated:
No one has proven anythingand defended Bautista's work at the Town Hall.
The lawsuit originates from a former councillor of the Popular Party, who confirmed her version before the judge in June. The magistrate has also agreed to the testimony of several witnesses proposed by the private prosecution, while the mayor's defence has appealed to the Provincial Court of Madrid.
The national president of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, present at the Getafe event, also spoke about the case before the summer. He confirmed that Bautista has an open informational file in the party, but noted:
The colleagues of the PP of Madrid believe himand added that it will be the courts that determine the outcome.
In addition to the summons in December, the mayor must appear before the judge on October 9 in relation to the same complaint. Bautista has denied the accusations from the outset and maintains his innocence.
